William Richard Srigley of Pebble Beach, California passed away on March 13, 2019 while sailing his boat Morpheus on Monterey Bay. Rick was born in Detroit, Michigan November 5, 1941 to William and Jeanne Srigley.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sandie; his daughters, Karen Bolger (Tom) and Rochelle Srigley; and his four granddaughters, Morgan and Kiara and Skye and Summer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie. Rick is also survived by his mother, Jeanne, and siblings, Paul, Tom (Karen), and Diane (Bill) Mangiante. Rick’s family grew to include Sandie’s daughters, Angela, Christine, Deanna, and Lydia, as well as their husbands and children.
Rick graduated from Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, Michigan in 1959 and received a degree in Physiology from Michigan State University in 1963. Rick pursued a career in biotechnology which spanned over 53 years. He forged many lasting relationships with colleagues over that period.
He participated in many organizations related to his career, and in Pebble Beach and the Monterey Bay area. A lifelong sailor, Rick was an active member of Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club where he raced until 2019. He was respected by all who knew him for his dependability, patience, and fun-loving yet competitive spirit.
Visitation will be at The Paul Mortuary Chapel, 390 Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove, California on Friday, April 5th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Burial will be at El Carmelo Cemetery, Asilomar Boulevard & Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove, California on Saturday, April 6th at 9:30 AM. A memorial service will be held at Church in the Forest, 3152 Forest Lake Road, Pebble Beach, California on Saturday, April 6th at 1:00 PM.
