Yolanda was born in Oakland, CA on August 23, 1924 to Salvatore "Sam" and Anna Mirabella. She had one sister, Eleanor Aliotti. The Mirabella's lived in Monterey where they were a part of the Monterey bay fishing industry. Eventually, she met and married Antonio "Nino" DeMaria, a fisherman from Marettimo, Sicily, and had three children; Breatrice, who preceded her in death; Mark and Salvatore. She has two grandchildren, Rick Smith and Kelly (Shaumbe) Wright, and three great-grandchildren; Shaumbe Jr., Matthew, and Christopher.
Yolanda enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting. She loved music and learned to play the accordion as a young girl. Yolanda was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Our family is especially grateful for the exceptional care she received in her last years. Carmen, Lydia, and Delia, we are eternally grateful for your loving care toward our Mom and Nanna.
She was our steady matriarch and we will never forget her strength.
A memorial will be held on November 19, 2026 at The Paul Mortuary at 10:00 am.
