Zachary Brennan Penn, 26, died on February 18th in an accident on a camping trip in Fresno. He was enjoying a day off with friends, and he slipped and fell off of a cliff, sustaining major head trauma. His death was instantaneous. He then went on to San Diego State University, obtaining his BS in microbiology. Zach was born in Monterey on August 3, 1988, a twin to sister Amanda. He was an athletic little boy, playing many sports, his favorites being soccer and baseball, and later was a member of the MHS golf team. A Mensa member, he loved to challenge his mind with games like Trivial Pursuit, Sudoku and Jeopardy, and enjoyed entertaining his family with off-the-cuff puns and word play. Zach took great joy in his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He is survived by his parents, Dr. George and Jan Penn of Monterey, his sisters, Amanda Penn of Monterey and Mary Kate Legaspi (Kenny) of Fresno, and a brother, Michael Penn (Elizabeth) of Redwood City.
