Bernice (Bea) Halpern, age 85, passed away on August 19th at Tequesta Terrace, in Tequesta, Florida.
Bea was the only child of Alan and Annette Hagenjos, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State, and became an elementary school teacher.
While vacationing at a resort in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Bea met Murray Halpern, who became the love of her life. Together they went on to have and raise two children, Gina Sklar, and Janice Halpern. While raising her girls, Bea worked as a substitute teacher, and later went on to find her true passion as a children’s librarian. She worked in the Mt Laurel, NJ public library until she retired and moved to Florida in 1995.
Once in Florida, Bea volunteered in the children’s section of the North Palm Beach Library for a number of years, and also served on the board of her condominium.
Bea enjoyed spending time with neighbors and was devoted to her family; she was deeply loved by many. She leaves behind her daughters, Gina and Janice, Gina’s husband Michael Sklar, and many nephews and nieces.
