

Daniel Blackman, 63, son of Dr. Lionel H. Blackman and Miriam Blackman, of West Palm Beach Florida, passed away in the early morning of October 17th at Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Unit, after suffering a head injury from a bad fall. Dan is survived by his mother, Miriam, his daughter, Rachael Collins (Ogden, UT), his beloved grandsons, Jesse, Connor, Hunter and Riley Collins (Ogden UT) , his brothers Jerome Blackman (Virginia Beach) and Clifford Blackman (St. Helena, CA) and his sister, Carol Finch (West Palm Beach). As a teenager Dan starting composing and performing music. After performing two of his songs on television he composed a musical comedy, South Beach, which was produced and performed in Miami to excellent reviews. He composed more than 50 songs many of which were recorded by artists produced by DCB Production, Inc. in Roslyn, New York. Dan was a cracker jack sound engineer and loved his countless hours recording many different types of musical acts. The most noted were Deerfield Conway, who performed A Taste of Your Love and Inner City performed by Dave Steffen Band, and Cover Girl performed by The Garden of Eden. Daniel also performed and recorded many albums of material, playing acoustic and electric guitar, and piano.Dan practiced law in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for many years and tried several interesting cases. His skill enabled him to defend criminal capital cases, prosecute medical malpractices and wrongful death cases, handle divorces and real estate transactions.Although Dan was disabled by epilepsy and brain surgery in 1986 he started a mediation service in West Palm Beach and helped litigants find solutions to their problems with litigation. After Lionel had passed away in 1997 Miriam had a horrible fall and severely injured her right arm and hand. Dan moved into her home to take care of her, and sold his home. Dan continued to sell his music and was working to produce another musical play he completed when he became too ill from neurological problems. Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel located at IJ Morris at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Rd, West Palm Beach, Fl. The family will be sitting Shiva immediately following services.
