

Firooz Banooni, MD, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 11, 2025. He was born April 15, 1939 in Hamadan, Iran. He attended medical school in Tehran, Iran before immigrating to the United States where he completed his OB/GYN training at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, MI. He touched countless lives, helping deliver over eight thousand babies over the course of his career.
Firooz loved to take his wife and family by the hand and travel to new and beautiful places. He carried a deep and unwavering love for his Jewish faith, family, and friends. He had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious charm that would endear him to anyone he met. He was truly a giant among men.
His greatest wish was that his story be told. He authored an autobiography, A Life in Two Eras, which is available on Amazon. Proceeds from sales will be donated to charity.

Firooz is survived by his wife of 55 years Rana, his son Armand, daughter Amy (David Goldman), son Andrew (Arta), and four grandchildren Justin, Jacob, Jonathan, and Sarah. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all.
