

Dr. Harvey Victor Lilenfeld of Boca Raton Florida passed away on April, 30, 2015. He was the son of the late Evelyn and Joseph Lilenfeld, both of West Palm Beach, Florida. Harvey was born on August 25, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY where he went to school, graduating from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn with honors, and a B.S. in Chemistry in 1966. He then was accepted to Mass Institute of Technology where he received his doctorate in Chemistry in 1971. He did postdoctoral work at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in N.Y. Harvey had a distinguished technical career at the McDonnell Douglas Research Laboratory in St. Louis where he was a member of several technical societies and had published numerous technical articles and patents before he retired in 2002. He then moved to Boca Raton, Florida to be near family and to do limited consulting work. In 2008 after his mom died, Harvey began a new retirement career. He accepted an adjunct professor position at the Palm Beach State College campus in Boca Raton where he taught chemistry courses. He continued to be innovative and developed the first on line computer courses in Chemistry to be taught at the College. Harvey was a loving family man with a passion for chemistry and teaching. Students and friends he mentored were very fortunate to have him as a friend. Harvey is survived by his brothers Robert (Carol), Randy Arthur (Janet), nieces Dawn (James), Jennifer (Jonah), and grand-niece Gabriella. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM at IJ Morris at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, Florida 33412.
