Born on September 29, 1935, in Saint Louis, Missouri to Harry and Sophia Lever. Kenneth lived a life marked by steadfast devotion to family, a generous spirit, and a warmth that so often arrived with well-timed humor—qualities that made him deeply cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Kenneth pursued higher education with purpose and discipline, earning a bachelor’s degree and master's degree from Saint Louis University. His commitment to learning shaped the course of his life and work, and it remained a quiet strength behind all he undertook.
In retail, Kenneth built an accomplished career defined by diligence and leadership. He began at Famous Barr in Saint Louis, went on to facilitate the start-up of Wickes Furniture, and completed his retail career with Dayton Hudson Corporation. Never content to stand still, he later broadened his professional path, applying his drive and vision as a developer of commercial properties, including two hydroelectric dams—work that reflected both ambition and a willingness to take on complex challenges with steady resolve.
He truly enjoyed living life to the fullest. He played tennis well into his later years of life, and had a great love for sailing which he developed through his active service in the United States Navy.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joan Lever; his children, Steven (Jessica) Lever, Gregory Lever, and Lori (Terri) Lever; his step-daughter, Christine (Steven) Edwards; his grandchildren, Abraham (Rachel) Lever, Jefferson Lever, Brianna Lever, Nicholas Lever, Tristan Edwards, and Gavin Edwards; his great-granddaughter, Jaleeah Lever; and his sisters, Sandra Hayden, Janet Lever, and Phyllis (Eddie) Hollister.
