She was a woman whose presence could light up any room she entered — charismatic, determined, humorous, and unforgettable to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mona defined the word “charisma.”
In 1967, Mona founded the Weight Watchers franchise in Columbus, Ohio, building something meaningful from the ground up, when few women were recognized as entrepreneurs. Her work with the Weight Watchers Program touched countless lives, empowering individuals, and families across central Ohio and beyond. Her entrepreneurial spirit, courage, and unwavering belief in people inspired many who followed in her footsteps.
Mona was an extraordinary woman who loved her children dearly. All three of her children, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Rona, were actively engaged in the business she started.
Mona lived her life with energy, curiosity, and a deep love for her family. She was the daughter of David and Francis Vide. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Adams and his wife Jo Anna, daughter Rona Adams-Brody and son-in-law Scott Brody, her beloved grandchildren, David, Jason, and Wylder Adams. Great grandchildren – Dillon and Lewis Adams. She was preceded in death by her former husband Ben and son Stephen, who passed away several years ago, and whose memories she carried with her always.
Those who knew Mona remember her as vibrant, engaged, and full of life. She cherished life and especially the time she spent with her family and friends. She was passionate about travel, dance and fashion. She loved sports including the New York Yankees and her Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved animals and had a great love for her puppy, Heidi. She was honored as the recipient of the Polaris Financial Partners Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.
To her friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives she touched, Mona was more than a business leader. She was a mentor, confidante, and cherished friend. Her legacy endures through her family and the countless individuals she inspired, the example she set of a life lived with purpose, generosity, grit, and heart.
A service to honor Mona’s life will be held on Monday January 12th at 2:30 p.m. at the IJ Morris at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches. The family invites friends to join in celebrating her remarkable 99 years and the joy she brought into our world.
Mona will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
