Morris (Mike) Holmstock age 96 passed July 24, 2019, born December 13, 1922, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, predeceased by his parents David and Ida, 6 siblings Gus, Max, Anne, Jack, Sam, and Al, and his wife of 40 years Sheila. Mike is survived by his 4 children, Treila, Fred (Shelley), Bernie (Donna), Jeff, and four grandchildren, Rachel, Alex, Adam, and Jacob as well as hundreds of friends and acquaintances who he left an indelible mark on with his charm, good nature, and encyclopedic memories of his World War II adventures. At 19 Mike enlisted and fought in WWII from 1939 - 1945 earning a Bronze Star & Purple Heart as part of Company H, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82 Airborne Division. He could hold you spellbound for hours with stories of his battles and campaign through Anzio, Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, Operation Market Garden and taking the Belgium town of Chenaux, against impossible odds, vastly outnumbered by elite nazi troops. As children, Mike's boys couldn't yet appreciate the countless and amazing stories but always felt special when Dad allowed them to wear the Purple Heart or Bronze Star when the situation would merit. At 95 Mike soared one last time, parachute billowing above. He led a long and rich life, loved by many. The end of an amazing era passes with Mike.
