

Albert spent much of his early life in South and Central Texas, working various jobs before being drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1953 to 1955, earning the rank of Corporal.
In 1956, Albert and Shirley were married in Temple, TX. Together they shared 70 years of marriage and had the joy of raising three children.
They became residents of Pasadena, Texas, in 1959 and were members of Peace Lutheran Church since 1992. Albert spent 22 years with Lubrizol Corporation and, after retirement, worked another 15 years at Ace Hardware. He believed in serving both his country and his community and was a member of American Legion Post 521 for 45 years, he also served with the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, playing various games, cheering for his favorite football team, the "Houston Texans" and he loved dancing, especially to his favorite waltz Jole Blond, with Shirley.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Dornhoefer, and his brother, Ernest Dornhoefer.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, and their three children and their families: Daughter Linda and husband Scott Oliver of Hernando, Florida and their children Sabrina Oliver, Kristen Finger, Heather Myers and husband Jason, Candice Oliver and Gavin Hale. Their grandchildren, Brandon Leteff, Aiden Leteff, Destiny Brinson, Gabriel Finger, Katelyn Balli and Kolby Balli. Daughter Janice and husband John Rydlund of Seabrook, Texas and their children Jessica Rydlund and John Edward Rydlund. Son Daryl Dornhoefer of Pearland, Texas and his children Cameron Dornhoefer and Makenna Ott. His three sisters, Bernice Kleypas of Duncanville, Texas; Dorothy Skrabanek of Temple, Texas; and Geraldine Dana of Temple, Texas. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent care Albert received from Enhabit Home Health, Hearts at Home, and The Reserve at Pasadena. Their kindness, compassion, and support were deeply appreciated.
Albert, you were deeply loved, and your memory will remain in our hearts forever. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on October 9, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Memorial Celebration of Albert's life will begin at 2:00 pm. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
