Arthur Gomez Reyes was born on October 15, 1927 in Houston Texas, to Onecimo Flores Reyes and Josephine Gomez Reyes, who were both born in Piedras Negras, Mexico . He was the oldest of 12 children. In No particular order they are: Onecimo Jr. "John", Ester, Gilbert, Mario, Josie, Hortencia, Adam, Raymond, David, George, and Faye. Our precious lord and savior has called David, Faye and now Arthur to his Kingdom.
Arthur served in World War II, and was blessed to come back home. He married Margarita Cortez we believe it to be in 1958 and had three children, Herman, Lorenzo and Doris. Herman sadly passed away at the age of one year.
Lorenzo married Janie Hinojosa and had a daughter named Kimberly Rachelle Reyes.
Doris lives in Kerville, Tx. with 5 of her 6 children Crystal, Kristie, Kristian, Krissy, Christopher. Unfortunately her youngest child Christening Mikie passed away at a very young age. Crystal has 5 children, Laura, Adrian, Alex, Ricky and Destiny. Christopher is married to Amanda and they have 3 children, Christopher, Alex, and Alexia.
Arthur and Margarita shared 35 happy years together. They built their own home and cared for their children. They had many friends, and enjoyed to socialize. Dancing was one of their favorite pass times. Margarita was called home by our Lord on May 6, 1993.
Arthur retired from L.P.I.S.D. after serving 25 years as a maintenance worker, he enjoyed working with his hands.
Arthur spent most of his time worshiping the Lord. He was an active member of the Lomax Baptist Church where he and Lorenzo attended. He enjoyed spending time with his grand daughter Kimberly, and loved watching her perform with the Color Guard at the Friday night football games. Fishing was also a relaxing past time for he and Lorenzo. He also became involved with the Senior Citizen Center where he met Ms. Isabel. They enjoyed dancing the night away. Ms. Isabel kept him busy and active. After a few years Ms. Isabel passed away. He later found a companionship with Ms. Alma Johnson. They enjoyed going dancing also and spent time at the senior Center. When Arthur became ill he seemed to be in good spirits. He still made everyone laugh up until his last days. His greatest wish was that we not shed tears but remember the vibrant, funny, carefree man that he was. He now is resting in the house of the lord, and dancing away with the love of his life, Margarita Cortez Reyes.
Arthur is survived by 9 of his brothers and sisters and their spouses. many nieces and nephews. 1 son and daughter in law. 1 daughter. 6 grand children and 8 great grand children.
