

Barbara Ann Lowden Erickson left us for heaven on October 14, 2015, succumbing to a lengthy battle with cancer. Barbara was born in Austin, Texas on October 1, 1946 to Alfred Morris Lowden, Jr. and Helen Belle Davis Lowden. She was a long-time Pasadena resident, moving here from Austin in 1966. Barbara loved the Lord Jesus, was quick to share her faith, and had a great sense of humor. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena.
Barbara worked as a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor, helping hundreds of people to cope with their addiction and to improve their lives. Early in her career, she was the Director of New Hope Women’s Center in Pasadena, and later held counselor positions with the TDC Darrington Unit, Harris County Jail, and the BES Group.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Kay Kamp of Bastrop, Texas and Carolyn Montgomery of Austin. Barbara is survived by her daughter and husband, Raye Ann Shepherd Alexander and Randy Alexander of Friendswood, Texas, her son, Richard Lee Shepherd of Pasadena, her grandson, Jairus Matthew Alexander of Friendswood, her brother, Alfred Lowden III of Tampa, Florida, and her sister, Debra Apple of Lexington, Texas.
The family wishes to thank all of Barbara’s friends, neighbors, church family, and the caregivers at Bayshore Hospital and Hallmark Hospice for their support, love, and prayers over the past two years as she dealt with her illness. You are truly the nicest people in the world.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Pasadena, 7500 W. Fairmont, 77505.
