Barbara served as Assistant to the Chief of Staff of Burn Surgery at Shriners Hospitals for Children and as Assistant to the Burn Surgery Department at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She had a deep passion for her daughters, her granddaughter, and loved attending her granddaughter’s sporting events. Barbara also cherished her dogs, enjoyed spending time at the beach, and valued the close friendships she built throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kathleen Lardie.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her daughters Monica MacKerron, Katie Shak and fiancé Chris Shelton, and granddaughter Brinley MacKerron. As well as her siblings Lindy Jones and husband Larry Bedard, Richard Johnson, Lynette Clark and husband Joe Clark, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 13th from 5:00-8:00PM with a Vigil and a Rosary to follow at 7:00PM in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. A Celebration of Mass will be held Friday, November 14th at 11:30AM at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church located at 3131 El Dorado Blvd. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Chance Pets in Barbara’s honor.
