Betty Jo Carter, age 92 passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Huntsville, Texas. Betty was born June 11, 1929 in Anson, Tx.
Betty Jo and Robert “Nick” Carter were married in 1953. She was a model military wife during his time in the Air Forces. After his retirement in 1969 they moved to Pasadena, Texas. She worked for Kroger’s at the distribution center in Houston. She was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Kroger after 20 years of service.
In 1980 she moved to Riverside, “Lakeland”, Texas. Betty was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church; she enjoyed attending her Sunday school classes. Betty was an avid reader; you could always found her with a book in hand, who had a deep love of have animals.
Betty was preceded in death by her son, James Otto Harper (1968) and husband Robert “Nick” Carter (2019).
Betty is survived by her brother, Bobby Ray Harper of Bartlesville, Oklahoma: niece and nephew, Mary and Johnny Harper of Riverside, Texas; and her great nieces and nephews; Jason and Kristen Harper and daughter, Keegan of Montgomery, Texas; Wayne and Janna Moody and son Michael of Liberty, Texas; Kimberly Harper Robinson and Shawn Robinson and daughter, Kinley and son, Kylar of Hempstead, Texas; Debra Harper Crossland and Robert Crossland of Kansas City, Missouri; Diane Harper Shackleton and David Shackleton of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Michael and Robin Harper of Ochelata, Oklahoma.
Betty’s many loved ones and special friends, Sarah Puente, David and Cheryl Cummings, Jim and Celia Boney, Ray and Janice Whitney, all of Huntsville, Texas will dearly miss her.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:00am. The service will be hold graveside at 10:30am at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
