Born Betty Jo White to Roy and Hazel White in 1935 in Briary, Texas, she grew up in the township of Allendale, where her future husband Milton R. “Pete” Turner also lived, eventually marrying on July 3, 1952. She and her husband and best friend, Pete, along with their three children, moved to Deer Park in 1960. Betty was a natural born hairdresser, practicing her trade as a cosmetologist until health issues forced her retirement. She then began the balance of her years as a homemaker and mother, as well as traveling with her husband, working part-time, and being “Grammy” to her six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Betty was an original member of Allendale Baptist Church in Houston, where she worked in the nursery, along with her other church duties. She loved her family and lifetime friends, doing crafts, and had an infectious smile that could light up a room.
She is survived by her husband, Milton “Pete” Turner, son Michael Turner and his wife, Sandy King Turner, son Douglas Turner, Sr. and his wife, Adrena Turner, and daughter, Cyndy Turner, all of whom live in the Houston area. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Lee White, Jr., and was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Donald Ralph White.
The Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena, Texas has been entrusted with arrangements.
