Billie Jean Westbrook Vaughn passed away February 18, 2019, at 91 years of age. She was born on November 14, 1927 in Pilot Point, Texas to Morris Daily Robison Westbrook and James F. Westbrook. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years Willie E. Vaughn, Jr.; her brothers, Don Westbrook, Harry Westbrook, and James Westbrook; her sisters, Lucille Swofford, Pauline Jacobs, and Mary Ann Phillips; and her beloved son W. Daniel Vaughn. She leaves behind the pride and joy of her life, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Daughter Debby Ploucher, son Tim Vaughn and his wife Sheri; grandchildren Eryn Vaughn-Ebaugh and Husband Stephen, Jeni Vaughn-Hendrix and husband Casey, Carly Vaughn; Derek Ploucher; and great-grandchildren Cory Rozier, Sienna Bohn, Grady Hendrix, Blaine Hendrix, William Ebaugh and Elizabeth Ebaugh.
Jean was a graduate of Denton High School in 1945 and went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education at the University of Houston. She taught for one year in Houston ISD and was a classroom teacher and also school librarian at Deepwater Junior High in Deer Park ISD for 27 years. She and her dearly departed husband Bill were long time members of South Avenue Baptist church where Jean shared her unabashed love of gospel music with her church family and friends by singing in the choir and playing the piano. Jean later moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Deer Park where she continued her love of music and worshiped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jean was not only a talented musician, but a painter as well. Her paintings will be treasured by her children and grandchildren for generations to come.

The Vaughn family would like to thank the loving employees, nurses, and caregivers at Colonial Oaks for their tender love and care for Jean for the past five years. In addition, the family also wishes to thank Grace Hospice for the kind and tender care so sweetly given to Jean and our family during her time in their care.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019, for visitation at Grandview Funeral Home located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A Celebration of Life for Jean will also be held at Grandview Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation. Interment will follow the Celebration of Life at Grandview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Jean requested that a donation be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Deer Park.
