Boyd “Clayton” Hardy, 82, was born in Palestine, Texas, on September 3, 1943, and passed away on May 19, 2026. Clayton lived a life centered on faith and family. He chose to follow Jesus as a child in 1953, and his relationship with Christ remained the foundation of his life.
Clayton met Sandra Saikley when she was 16 and he was 20. They married at First Baptist Church Pasadena in 1964 and shared 61 happy years together. Second only to his love for Jesus was his love for his family. He attended as many baseball practices and games as possible for his three sons, Blaine, Brad, and Bryan, and continued faithfully supporting his grandchildren in their sports and performances throughout his life.
Clayton worked at Shell for 41 years, but found his real joy in everyday life: baseball, travel, baking, puzzles, reading, Bible study, and “computer things.” In his later years, one of his greatest joys was frequent trips to the grocery store, sometimes four or five times a week. He loved being with people and used his remarkable memory to remember details, regularly checking in, asking for updates, and praying specifically.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Rebecca Hardy; his sister, Lois Hardy Wilson; and his son, Bryan Hardy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra; his sons, Blaine and wife Ginger and Brad and wife Kristi; his grandchildren Jessica, Matthew and Elizabeth, Jaryn, Aaron, Abigail, Blake and Clara, Clayton and Corynna, Daniel and Andrew Hardy; and his great-grandchildren Sylas, Aemon, Eloise, and Wilder Hardy.
Though his family grieves his absence deeply, they rejoice that Clayton is now in the presence of the Savior he faithfully served. There is peace in imagining him hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” And if Clayton would leave those he loved with one final message, it would surely be this: put your faith in Jesus Christ, trust in His saving grace, and know the hope of eternal life that Clayton held onto until the very end.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church-Pasadena, 7500 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505, on May 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Boyd's life will begin at 12:00 pm. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
