Brenda Thompson, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep on September 30, 2026. Brenda was born on January 19, 1954, in Pasadena, Texas, she lived her entire adult life in LaPorte, Tx until her retirement in 2017 when she moved to Linden, TX to be close to her sister and brother-in-law.
Brenda was the middle daughter of Harry and Nadean Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her great-nephew, Ethan Harrison McCullin. Brenda is survived by her sisters, Barbara Wright (Robert) and Beverly Atkins (John). Nieces, Kristi Morrison (Jason), Kelli McCullin (Nathan), Ashley Siner (Nathan), Amy Silvers (Michael), and Alexandra Bechel (Chad), as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. Brenda never married and never had children of her own, but she loved her five nieces as if they were her own. She was their Aunt Bem, but in so many ways, she was so much more than that. Her nieces were a very special part of her life, and the love she had for them will always be a part of her story.
A proud alumna of New Caney High School, Brenda graduated in 1972 before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Sam Houston University in 1976. Her academic achievements paved the way for a successful career at OxyChem in LaPorte, Texas, where she dedicated nearly 40 years of her life. Brenda's commitment to her work and her colleagues was a testament to her character and work ethic.
Brenda lived a life full of the things she loved. She loved to travel and see the world, and back in the day, she loved cruising around in her sporty Supra. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, keeping up with Fox News, and—if you knew Brenda—you knew about her vast collection of VHS tapes, DVDs and Blu-rays.
Brenda's family extends heartfelt gratitude to Heritage Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days. Her life will be celebrated and remembered at a graveside service on October 12, 2026 at 1:00PM, at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, located at 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas.
To honor Brenda/Aunt Bem’s life and legacy, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made through a donation to a dementia research charity of your choosing.
Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
