Brian was born in Beaumont, Texas on July 30, 1964 to Sarah Cannon and Wilfred Fournier. Brian was raised by his beloved mother and stepfather, James Cannon. He graduated from Lumberton High School before serving the country he loved in the United States Navy as a submarine machinist mate. He was stationed on the USS Henry M Jackson (Blue) and previously Brian was on the USS Tinosa out of Hawaii. His love for education led him to obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Illinois. In addition, he also obtained three masters degrees (two in education and an MBA).
Brian’s passion was teaching. He most recently taught 4th grade at Heritage Elementary School. There was nothing he would not do for his students, making sure their minds and hearts were nourished. He was a true inspiration to countless students.
Brian also had a great love for travel and enjoyed trips with his wife, family, and friends. Las Vegas was his favorite destination. He could be found at the Southpoint Casino playing bingo and continued to talk about the one big pot he hit.
Brian was full of depth and complexity but also had the perfect balance of funny, seriousness, caring and thoughtfulness. He was a rare gem that sparkled without sunlight. Everyone felt comforted by his presence. He knew when to talk, and when to listen. And, we all know—he loved to talk. He never looked back. He was a forward thinker and kept everyone around him moving too—a true motivational machine.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Cannon, stepfather James Cannon, father Wilfred Fournier, and brother Jimmy Fournier. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, sisters Sallie Magliolo and husband Joe, Sandra White and husband Mark, brothers-in-law Leo Goldberg and wife Mary, David Goldberg and wife Carolyn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to Covid Restrictions, a private service will be held.
