Carol Lee Williams passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 11, 1941, in Brownwood, Texas, Carol spent her childhood in Grand Prairie, Texas, where she developed the strength, resilience, and caring spirit that would define her life.
Carol was the daughter of Ophelia Humphreys, a dedicated nurse whose long hours caring for others often kept her away from home, and Calvin Lee Humphreys, a hardworking hatchery man. Because of her mother's demanding schedule, Carol developed an especially close bond with her father. Their relationship was one of deep love and admiration. Calvin was a devoted family man who enjoyed cooking for his family and even taught Carol how to drive. The lessons he taught her and the love they shared remained with her throughout her life.
Carol graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1959. She soon became a loving mother to three beautiful children: Micheal, Rodney, and Rhonda. While raising her young family, she worked in an office in downtown Dallas, balancing the responsibilities of motherhood and her career with determination and grace.
After the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Rhonda, at the age of five, Carol felt called to begin a new chapter. In 1968, she moved to Houston, Texas, with her sons, Micheal and Rodney, where she built a life centered on family, hard work, and service to others.
She worked as a bookkeeper before beginning a successful career in real estate. Introduced to the profession by her son Micheal, who specialized in commercial real estate, Carol found her calling helping families with residential properties. She dedicated many years to the industry and became known for her professionalism, patience, and unwavering calm in even the most stressful situations.
Carol's colleague and friend Philip remembered her as someone who could "calm the waters" no matter what challenges arose. He recalled her generosity in sharing her knowledge with others, her patience in mentoring new agents, and the joy she brought to the workplace. Whether helping colleagues navigate unfamiliar situations or teaching a friend the finer points of her favorite computer card game, FreeCell, Carol always gave freely of her time and kindness.
Outside of work, Carol found happiness in life's simple pleasures. There was rarely a time when a puzzle was not spread across her table. She was a talented quilter and seamstress who created countless beautiful quilts and lovingly sewed pajamas for her family. Her hands were rarely idle, and the gifts she made will remain treasured reminders of her love.
Carol was also a devoted lover of plants. She took great joy in tending to them and had a remarkable ability to help them thrive. Caring for her plants brought her peace, and her home reflected the beauty and warmth she cultivated in every corner of her life.
She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. A devoted rescuer, she opened her home and heart to many throughout her life. There was rarely a time when she had fewer than four dogs, each receiving the same love and care she gave so freely to everyone around her.
Perhaps most remarkable was Carol's extraordinary strength. Throughout her life, she faced cancer five separate times and defeated it each time with courage, determination, and grace. Her perseverance inspired everyone who knew her and stands as a testament to the resilience that defined her character.
Beyond all of her accomplishments and interests, Carol was a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, and a cherished aunt. She treasured the time she spent with her family and found great joy in watching younger generations grow.
Carol will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, patience, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family, friends, animals, and plants. She leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories, cherished handmade gifts, countless acts of kindness, and a reminder that life's challenges can be met with grace and determination. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Gentry, as well as countless family members and dear friends whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her son, Micheal Junior Gentry; her daughter, Rhonda Gayle Gentry; her mother, Ophelia Humphreys; her father, Calvin Lee Humphreys; her brother, Bruce Calvin Humphreys; and her half-sister, Dolores Shipp.
Carol's life was marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She will be honored with a Visitation at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on June 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and a Committal Service at Grand View Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Deer Park, TX 77536, US, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
