She is survived by her children, Al (Shanen) Campo, Jr. and Kimberly (Rick) Walsh; her four cherished grandchildren, Morgan Rae (Christopher), Mason (Lexi), Ashlyn Rae, and Caitlyn Alison; and her great grandchildren Noah, Levi and Weston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burke and Dorothy Calhoon and her husband, Doak King.
Carolyn, affectionately known as “Gommy,” was fiercely devoted to her children, going above and beyond to make sure they knew how much they were loved, supporting every single thing they were a part of and being their biggest and most beautiful cheerleader in all aspects of their lives. This same devotion was extended to each of her 4 grandchildren with gusto. You could find Carolyn at the center of Al & Kim’s circles and beloved by their closest friends. She also rarely missed a volleyball tournament, football or baseball game or dance recital for her 4 grandchildren and, rumor has it, made the best breakfasts after every sleepover, which were frequent. Her love for her family was legendary and without fail. Her children and all those who loved her are who they are because she loved them so incredibly well.
Carolyn worked until she was 80 years old, serving the team at Southern American stead-fastly until her family convinced her it was time to retire. For many years, she loved traveling to Las Vegas with her friend Gloria and more recently could be found at the movie theatre or the local tea room with her dear friend and favorite in-law, Betty. She was as special a friend as she was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.
A service to honor Carolyn will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home and Memorial Park (8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, 77505). Immediately following the service the family will gather at the gravesite, all guests are invited.
Carolyn’s bright spirit, legacy of love, and untethered devotion will live on in all who knew her.
