

Cleve Marchbanks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ passed away at Clear Lake Regional Hospital with family on Saturday, 30th of June at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; brother, Curtis Marchbanks and wife Billie; brother, Leonard Marchbanks and wife Donna; son J.B. Carter and his wife Sandy; grandson Brian Carter and his wife Jill; granddaughter Lori and husband Toby Thorp; great grandchildren, Emily, Nate, Matthew, Andrew, and Avery. Cleve was very close to his family, and he had a great amount of love for everyone. He was preceded in the death of his mother, Edith Siegler; and father, Amos Marchbanks.
Cleve was born in Wellington, Texas, July 29, 1929. He served with the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict in the 2nd Infantry Division, 38th Infantry Regiment. During this time, he received the Korean Service Medal W/2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal-GO #125, Combat Infantryman Badge, and National Defense Service Medal. After being released from the Army, he spent most of his life in Amarillo, Texas working for the City of Amarillo as a mechanic for approximately 25 years. Later he was employed by Southwestern Public Service as a shop foreman and mechanic for 28 years, later retiring from this company. Cleve was certified in all facets of the ability to be a professional mechanic. He was a dedicated mechanic that took a great amount of pride in his work. All of his vehicles were in immaculate condition. Cleve and his wife traveled throughout the country with their travel trailer enjoying the many beautiful parts of this country with close friends, and Helen’s sister and brother-in-law; Velva and Daryl Bond. Everyone considered Cleve as a very dedicated person to occupation and friends. He cared for everyone.
Cleve and Helen were faithful members of North Amarillo and Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo. They established many friends from both churches and enjoyed going to these churches. They had many Sunday School socials playing dominos and peg and jokers. Cleve loved all sports. Later, they moved to Montrose, Colorado. They attended and worked in the Montrose Church of Christ, also establishing many friends there.
Graveside services will be at Houston National Cemetery for Veterans, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, Monday ninth day of July 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends of Cleve Marchbanks are welcomed for this ceremony.
