D.A. Buell, 96, of Pasadena, Texas entered into eternal rest on November 14th, 2020. D.A. was born on December 2nd, 1923 to parents Chester Earl Buell Sr. and Edith Laferre Buell. He was the fifth child of five children. He attended Paris High School, Arkansas Tech, and then ultimately graduating from The University of Texas with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduating he began a successful career as a Field Engineer for Combustion Engineering, then later working for Houston Lighting and Power Company in several positions, eventually retiring as a Plant Manager in 1987 after diligently serving for 25 years. After retirement he remained involved in the Kiwanis Club where he was active for over 30 years and even served a term as the President. He also served as a Deacon to First Baptist Church of Pasadena, where he had faithfully attended for over 60 years.

D.A. was very proud of his service in the Naval Air Corps where he served from August 8th, 1943 to November 10th, 1946, the period of time during World War II. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant and received several medals, including the Air Medal and Fleet Air Wing 7 Liberator Group Commendation. He was even part of one of the most important events during the war, the invasion of Normandy, France on June 6th, 1944, or D-Day.

Some of the words that come to mind when you think of D.A. are honest, religious, intelligent, generous, and an overall family man. He was respected by many and loved by all, especially Robert Rodriguez, who helped to care for him in his final days. When D.A. wasn’t working or spending time at the church, you could find him doing yard work, watching UT football, listening to various styles of music ranging from church hymns and Celtic Woman, to musicals and classical, and visiting his friends and family.

D.A. is preceded in death by his parents Chester Earl Buell Sr. and Edith Laferre Buell; sister Margarette Pettigrew and brothers Earl Buell, Nelson Buell, and R.C. Buell; first wife Ethel Wesson Buell, second wife Marie Parmley Buell, and third wife Geraldine Marshman Buell.

D.A. is survived by his children Sydney and husband Ron Selman, Susan and Husband Rand Westbrook, and son John Bruce Buell and wife Yvonne; grandchildren Lauren Buell, Elizabeth Buell, Matthew Buell, Derek McCrory and wife Charla, Scott Westbrook and wife Whitney, Meredith and husband Jonathan Seabourn, and Melissa Gowan; great-grandchildren Luke, Natalie, and Nathan Seabourn, Evangeline Buell, Brock Gowan, Barrett and Cora Westbrook, and one more due on Thanksgiving Day.

I was so saddened to learn of DA's passing. I know he left a wonderful legacy of a long life well lived.
I regret that I did not get down to see him, before he left this life, as he was my father's last living sibling.

Sincerely,

Karen Buel Ledbetter

The family baby sitter me when I was 5 .My heart goes out to Bruce his son who i admired as a child because of our names. ..I drove BA to his car one day as I had golf cart duty at FBC.
