

David Wayne Scruggs, 69, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 29, 1956 in Sonora, Texas. As a child, David attended Thrall Elementary School. His family later moved to Austin, Texas. There he attended Webb Jr High School and went on to graduate from Lanier High School in 1975. David attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcus and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. After graduating from SWTSU, David began a life-long career with Shell Pipeline. He retired in 2018 as the Control Center Operations Manager.
David married the love of his life, Lisa Burgan Scruggs in 1980.
They were married for 46 years. David and Lisa were blessed with two daughters that he dearly loved. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In addition, he was a wonderful brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. David never met a stranger because he became friends with everyone he met and was a great friend to many.
David was known for his witty personality. He was a generous and thoughtful man. He was always willing to help others. After retirement, David and Lisa were able to enjoy world-wide travels. He enjoyed Elk Hunting, fishing with grandkids and friends, Astros Baseball, Texans Football and collecting Shell Oil memorabilia.
David will be deeply missed by his wife, Lisa Burgan Scruggs, his daughters, Whitney (Travis) McIntyre and Kendall (Derek)
Thompson. He was the Best PaPaw to Paxton and Gatlin McIntyre, and Leighton and Kaison Thompson. He is also survived by his sisters Cathy Warner and Becky (Charlie Monk as well as his brother and sister-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by Harold Wayne Scruggs(father), Leonietta Kubicek Scruggs (mother), William F Burgan (father-in-law), Shirley Burgan (mother-in-law), Maddox Wayne Thompson (grandson), Lex Roberts (Brother-In-Law and Dear Friend) and William L Burgan (brother-in-law)
