

Colonel Donald Robison was born on December 10, 1928 in Birmingham, AL. His family moved to Texas when he was quite young. He grew up in Pasadena and attended Groveton Elementary School & graduated from Pasadena High School in 1946. His parents were Buena Chambers Robison and Margaret Harrison.
He earned the following degree 2 years of college at University Of Houston. While attending the University Of Houston, he enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard at Ellington AFB & served as the Base Operations Clerk. He was called to active duty as a Sergeant in 1950. He was accepted for Aviation Cadet Flying Training and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant & received his pilot wings in 1950. He served in the Korean War & the Viet Nam War & completed 100 combat missions in each. He has served in a variety of staff & flying positions throughout his career and has flown the F-84 jet fighter, T-33, F-86D, F-102 & the F-4E aircraft. The F-4 was by far his favorite plane and he requested that his model of that plane be placed on his chest & be buried with him. He came to Ellington AFB after his tour in Viet Name & was named Base Commander in 1973. So his career brought him full circle from Base Operations Clerk to Base Commander of the very same base where his stellar Air Force career began.
He retired in1976 after working 29 years. After retirement he was involved in USAF Order Of Daedalians Organization (National Historian for many years) Houston Rotary Club, Houston Area Retired Officers Association (1st Vice President) He lived in in Schertz, Texas for the last 32 years
He was married to JoAnn “Jody” Martin Robison for 23 years, the one true love of his life, and was laid to rest beside her on July 31st, 2019
He served in the USAF Service from 1947 to 1976 during Korean & Viet Nam wars (100 combat missions in each). He attained the rank of Colonel and received following medals MANY medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
After retirement he also enjoyed traveling Travel, reunions, spending time with family & friends, gardening, and golf.
He is preceded in death by his, wife JoAnn “Jody” Robison, his 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Donald Robison Jr.; Daughters: Kim Robison Rhodes & husband David, Karen Robison Buchanan & husband David; granddaughter, Shanna Buchanan & Jordan Kone; grandson, Matt Buchanan & wife Christina; great granddaughters; Clara Buchanan, Juliet Kone and great grandson, Jude Kone.
