Doris Jane Davis Poe

Doris Jane Poe went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2011 at the age of 79, where she joined her husband, Louis Lovide Poe of Deer Park. Doris was born in Pt. Arthur, Texas on September 20, 1931 to Joseph Reuben Davis and Bertie Kate (Spruiell) Davis. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Pt. Arthur and attended business school where she learned to become a book keeper, an occupation that she continued until she retired. Doris was a devout Christian and loved to sing and study the Bible. She took part in many choirs through the years, and also taught Bible studies including one at an assisted living facility where she lived before she passed on to be with the Lord. Doris is survived by her brother John Reuben (JR) Davis of Pasadena, son Dennis Vogelpohl and wife Susan of Houston, son Glenn Vogelpohl and wife Marisol of San Antonio, son Layne Vogelpohl and Dena wife of Falkville, AL, first cousin Milford Barrington of Tulsa, grandson David Vogelpohl and wife Lara of Austin, grandson Stephen Vogelpohl and wife Tiffany of Austin, grandson Jeff Vogelpohl and wife Stacey of Crosby, granddaughter Desiree Diaz and husband Miguel of Bellville, grandson Royce Vogelpohl and wife Kimberly of Houston, grandson Chris Vogelpohl of Falkville AL, granddaughter Cassie Vogelpohl of Falkville AL, nephew Eric Davis of Pasadena, nephew Brent Davis of Katy, great grandson Luke, great grandson Jackson, great granddaughter Naomi, great grandson Kai, great granddaughter Emily, and great grandson Eli. The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in The Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park adjacent to the funeral home.
