Dorothy Claire Morris Fink, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and faithful servant of God, passed away on May 4, 2026, at The Park at Bay Area. She was 88 years old. Born on June 1, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Dorothy lived a life marked by devotion to
her family, her students, and her community.
Dorothy attended North Texas State University, where she was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. On July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, Jack Donald Fink, beginning a partnership that would be defined by mutual support, shared purpose, and deep commitment, and a few arguments.
For many years, Dorothy served as an elementary school teacher in the Pasadena Independent School District, teaching at both Garfield Elementary and Jenson Elementary. She taught all grade levels throughout her career but held a special fondness for fourth grade, where she excelled at bringing Texas History and math to life for her students. Known as a strict but deeply caring educator, Dorothy found creative ways to motivate young learners. Her famous "100 Club" rewarded students with ice cream when they achieved a perfect score on their multiplication facts, a tradition that left a lasting impression on countless children who passed through her classroom.
Dorothy was also a devoted and supportive football coach's wife. Friday nights were spent cheering on Jack's teams at Dobie High School and Pasadena High School, where the energy of the game and the camaraderie of the community brought her great joy. As a
loving mother, she provided steady care and warmth for her children, holding the family together during the many late nights that came with Jack's dedication to his players.
Later in life, Dorothy found immense happiness in watching her granddaughters participate in cheerleading and softball. They were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to be their biggest supporter.
Dorothy was feisty, strong-willed, and possessed an unwavering sense of right and wrong. She had no tolerance for dishonesty and carried herself with a vocal authority that earned her the affectionate reputation of being the "boss lady" at her assisted living community. She loved playing Bridge, was an avid reader, and treasured her travels across the United States and around the world.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Dorothy was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she volunteered generously and planned many senior citizen church activities. Her service to both her church and her broader community reflected the
values she held most dear.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Mike Fink; her daughter, Lisa Edmoundson and husband Larry, and her cherished granddaughters, Shelby Edmoundson Lindberg and husband Clay, and Erin Edmoundson.
