In 1929 New York Yankee Babe Ruth hit his 500th career home run. Not to take away from the Babe, but nothing was more meaningful than Wednesday, November 27, 1929 when Elizabeth Gorman Schwab was born to Elizabeth Lawrence Gorman in Brooklyn, New York. She was 88 years young when she went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and much later in years moved to Houston, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pasadena, Texas. Throughout all her moves she always remained a true New Yorker.
One of Elizabeth’s favorite places was sitting at a slot machine. She loved the sound of those bells. Her last trip to Las Vegas was for her husband George’s 94th birthday where they were surrounded by family.
Elizabeth lived her life for her family. She was raised Catholic and passed her faith and beliefs in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to her children. A devoted mother to her children, always making sure they walked the straight and narrow, teaching her children good values and loving them unconditionally.
Elizabeth was the true definition of a homemaker. She loved to cook and you could taste that love in her food. You never left her table unsatisfied. Family favorites were her sauce, corn flake chicken, London broil, pot roast and pork loin with brown potatoes. Numerous desserts, cream puffs, blueberry muffins and without a doubt New York cheesecake which she taught her granddaughter Kimberly to make and had her take back on the plane to Houston.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband George of 72 years. Children: George Schwab, Jr. (wife Phyllis), Kathleen Gilbert (husband Kenneth), Dennis Schwab (wife Florence). Grandchildren: Kimberly Taylor (husband Jay), Denise Lambert (husband Jon), Dennis Schwab, Jr., Elaine (Peanut) Gilbert. Great Grandchildren: Grayson Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Alyssia Taylor. Great Great Grandson: Easton Taylor.
She will truly be missed and will always remain in our hearts.
