Retha grew up in Arkansas and became a Christian as a teenager. At the age of 15, with the approval of both families, she married Conrad Puckett. They were married 73 years and 4 months until they were parted by her passing. They moved to Texas in 1950 where they put down roots and raised their family. Most weekends were spent on Banana Bend where she loved to water ski. She retired from Pasadena Savings & Loans. Once Retha and Conrad were both retired, they built a beautiful home in Livingston, Texas. Every morning she looked forward to grabbing her cane pole, gathering her worms , and she headed to the pond. She even baited her own hook with the worms she built a worm bed for. Once they came back to Pasadena, Texas she lived her life with passion to explore, adventure, and to spend time with their grandkids and great grandkids. Every meal she prepared was a full course buffet and you did not leave her house without eating. Shopping trips to Kohl’s were a part of her daily routine. She wanted to peel those coupons and this gave her a reason to go to Kohl’s. Everything took a back seat when it came to sporting events for her grandkids and great grandkids. She was the loudest cheerleader in the stands and took great joy in watching them compete. Yard work was one of the many things she enjoyed doing and she refused to have anyone help her.
Retha is preceded in death by her parents Ester and Lina McCaskill, siblings Ruby Robinson, Charles McCaskill, Jim McCaskill, Clayton McCaskill and Lynda Maxwell.
She’s survived by her beloved husband Conrad Puckett who never left her side until she was no longer with him on this Earth.
