A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Mom’s/Grannie’s Legacy Mom was born in beautiful East Texas in the town of Timpson, Texas. She had wonderful and loving parents and siblings to match. Her love for her sister, Glenda, ran deep. She married the love of her life, Linvell, and they enjoyed 40 years of wonderful marriage before his passing. They had 3 daughters, Cathy, Sandra, and Kimberly, and her love for them was immense. She also had 3 sons-in-love, Jim, Donald, and John, whom she loved dearly. Her roots never left her as she loved all things with special quality and character like antiques, linens, old dishes, turnip greens and cornbread. As the years passed by, she decided that the best way to have a good meal, was to have a menu in front of her. If you knew mom, you knew she immensely enjoyed talking, whether on the phone or in person. She wanted to know how you were doing, offer her sage words of advice or give positive and encouraging words. She did this with countless individuals, including those at her church, family, and other numerous friends. Her personal ministry to others will never be forgotten, it has left a mark on all our hearts! Mom was the life of the party at family gatherings. She dearly loved when we planned a get together, and especially the opportunity to see her grandchildren. She had the time of her life when she entered the pool. She would say, “I can’t believe I’m the grandmother getting in the pool and the parents are on the sideline”! She was not going to miss a moment of fun, and she knew that every special moment in life was meant to be embraced and enjoyed. She said repeatedly, “Live life to the fullest, we are not assured of tomorrow”. We are confident that if she could speak to us now, she would have quite a few things to say. She would tell us it is okay to grieve as we need to, but only for a little while. She would say we will be okay because God is with us. Then she would tell us to smile, laugh, take that trip, jump in that pool, go to that church service, praise God, have that family gathering, call that friend, and to move on with our lives in honor of her. She would remind us that she is now rejoicing with Jesus, reunited with family and friends who have also passed, and free from the cares and concerns of this world. That she is home. And lastly, she would tell us to love others with the love of Jesus, to tell others about Jesus, and to never forget to care for others in words and deeds.
