Mr. Frank David Fairweather was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica, West Indies on January 7, 1936, to Zephaniah and Alexandria Fairweather. His Father passed when he was a toddler and life was quite hard. Frank grew up with his sisters, Dorothy and Daisy, and his brothers Jack and Leonard. Frank attended Titchfield High School and was a member of the Jamaica Regiment. In search of better opportunities Frank travelled to London, England where he worked as a bus and truck driver. There, he became an electrician’s apprentice and to this day lights he installed in London still shine.
Frank believed in hard work and enjoying life. He met and married the love of his life, Lystine “Tina” Daley and they travelled extensively abroad. They were married 53 years before she passed. Frank and Tina had 3 children: Samantha, Donna, and David. The family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Jamaica, Queens, New York. He began working for Consolidated Edison as an electrician and was excellent at his craft. He was so gifted his colleagues referred to him as, “The Prince”. The reference to royalty extended into his passion for music and he created his DJ sound system, “Queens Majesty”. “The Incomparable DJ Frank ‘I’”, played at basement parties, dances, weddings and with bands throughout the Tri-State area for many years. His collection of CDs, albums, 45s, 8-tracks, reel-to-reel, speakers and turntables were legendary.
Once he retired from Consolidated Edison, Frank and Tina moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Frank was never one to be idle. His mother, “Mama Alex” would frequently laugh and say “all ‘im a do ah jump off a de wall” each time he went to visit her in Jamaica. In Florida, visitors would usually find him working on something in his garage or playing music. Frank continued his other passions after retirement: karate and planting. He loved to practice and teach martial arts to his grandchildren and relished the fact that he had a black belt in karate. Frank took to growing any seeds he got “a hold of”. He grew mangos, avocados, bananas, moringa, oranges, papaya, ackee, tomatoes, herbs, and other tropical fruits.
Frank tended to his wife during her illness and after Tina’s passing, he agreed to move to Houston where his family was able to provide him care and support and to love him. Sadly, Frank was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia in 2017. On September 25, 2025, Frank passed away peacefully in his home.
Frank leaves to cherish him and is survived by his three children, his eldest brother Jack; Marteka (David) his daughter-in-law; six grandchildren: Jevaughn, Sharlyne, Alonn, Max, Jenyne and Renee`; great grandson: Marcel; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends in the United States, England, Jamaica, the Caribbean, Canada, Spain and Europe.
A visitation will be held on October 18, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505. A Celebration of Life service will follow starting at 11:00 am. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
