

Gay Dean Dalton, loving wife and mother was born in Lubbock, Texas March 22,1941 and passed away in Deer Park, Texas on April 7, 2026 at 85 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Raymond Burfield, Georgia Woodruff and by her brother Charles David Burfield.
Gay is a graduate of Plainview High School class of 1959, and attended North Texas State College in Denton, Texas. On August 9, 1960, Gay married her high school sweetheart Pvt. Robert Wayne Dalton, affectionately known as Bob. Bob and Gay were married 60 years. They were blessed with two sons, Ted and Kyle Dalton.
Gay graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor of Education on May, 15 1971. She taught History at Deepwater junior High and Bonette Junior High for many years. She went on to achieve a Master of Education in 1975. She served as assistant principal of Bonette junior High and Principal at Fairmont Junior High in Deer Park. She was active in the Texas State Teachers Association at the local and state level. She was passionate about education and an avid reader.
She was a member of South Avenue Baptist Church for 61 years where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, various church committees, and the church’s food bank where she prayed for each person given food. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren play sports or supporting them in all activities they participated in.
Gay is survived by her two sons and their spouses Ted and Karen Dalton and Kyle and Tara Dalton; granddaughters and spouses Jaimeson and Daniel Kelley, Tate and Nick Lipscomb;Grandsons, Kyle Harp, Sam, Conner, Will, and Gray Dalton;great grandchildren James, Nash, and Nellie Harp, Easton and Holden Kelley, Winston, Wren, and Mabel Lipscomb; niece Michele Mappe, her husband Bryan and their children Tyler, Kait, Trevor, Alyssa and Trey Mappe; special friends and neighbors of 58 years, Ronnie and Barbara Shock.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday May 23, 2026 at Grand View Funeral Home 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. Visitation with the family will begin at 10, with the service following at 10:30.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in Gay’s name to the South Avenue Food Pantry. There will be no graveside service.
