Gayla was always hard working and eager to succeed no matter the job or task. She loved tending to her potted plants, especially her Hibiscus plants. She was an outstanding cook and took pride serving her family's favorites. Gayla made the best chocolate chip cookies each Christmas and would make dozens to share with friends and family. Her heart was as big as Texas and the love she gave was even bigger!
She often reflected on the years she lived in East Texas. This is where she made a profession in faith to follow Jesus as her Savior. Gayla loved her Redeemer!
Gayla is preceded in death by her husband, Cowboy Hooper. Parents, Billy and Mary Ayers. Brother, Les Ayers. Loving sister, Debbie Houston.
She is survived by her nieces Delisa Vaughn and husband, Jason. Denay Venetoulias and husband, Manoli. She was a prayer warrior for her great nephews and nieces, Preston, Erica, Noah, Sophia, and Madison Vaughn and Clare and Jax Venetoulias. Gayla shared a special bond with her cousin, Pam Nance, who was like a sister to her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your consideration in making a donation in loving memory of Gayla Ayers to HIWAY 80 Rescue Mission in Longview, TX or Sarah’s House in Pasadena, TX.
