Gerald Wade Clark was born on July 24, 1931 in Glenmora, Louisiana. Christ called him home on June 22, 2023, just short of his 92nd birthday. Gerald was the son of Levy Clifford Clark, Sr. and Opal Elizabeth Stockman Clark. Both parents preceded him in death along with his older brother Levy Clifford Clark, Jr.; sister-in-law Ruth Perkins Thomas; son Gary Wayne Clark; daughter Deborah Anita Pierce; and, daughter Rebecca Kay Gorsuch.
Gerald was a member of Deer Park First Baptist Church’s Silver Set Sunday School Department. He faithfully worshiped, served, and attended for as long as his health allowed.
Gerald was a member of the Masons for 50 years through the 32nd Freemasonry branch. He held several offices including Chaplin and Junior Steward.
Gerald worked for 40 years in the petrochemical industries along the Houston Ship Channel. He hitchhiked his way to Texas in 1950 to secure a job at what was then Diamond Alkali. To better provide for his growing family, Gerald attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena resulting in numerous job promotions for him. During his career, he worked at three of Diamond Shamrock’s plants moving from operations to personnel to safety. Gerald retired from the final company that acquired Diamond, the Occidental Chemical Corporation, after 37 years of employment. He then went to work for AES, a power company, in a position of Manager of Personnel Support. This role allowed him and wife, Amy, to live in different states, including Arkansas and Hawaii. He resigned from AES in 1993 to fully enjoy his retirement years with his family.
Gerald was an avid hunter, fisherman, and volunteered for numerous community-based organizations and church committees in his lifetime. He was a family man. Every member of his family meant the world to him.
Gerald’s loving wife of 73 years, Amy Lee, survives him and will miss him very much. His living daughter Roni Clark Archer and son-in-law Tommy Archer will miss their trips to Gringo's Mexican Kitchen. Gerald is survived by two sisters, a sister-in-law, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was known as, “Uncle Gerald,” by his extended family of nieces and nephews too numerous to count.
Gerald’s mark on his family will last for generations to come. We love you, Paw Paw!
