Glenn Cartwright Duval, age 63, of La Porte, Texas, entered his eternal reward on Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Houston, Texas. After many years of chronic illness, he made his goal to the top of the transplant list. Although he did not achieve transplant, he completed his course strong in faith.
Glenn was born in Homestead, Florida to Donald Duval and Patricia May on April 26, 1958.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Duval and Patricia May, and an infant sister Lucy Shara.
Glenn grew up on Air Force bases around the world. He enjoyed packing up his red wagon, he said he was playing “move”. The family settled in Wichita Falls, Texas once his father retired from military life. Glenn worked as a welder and carpenter before moving to Houston, Texas in 1984, where he met and later married his love, Naomi De La Fuente on February 4, 1989. Their union was blessed with 2 children, Christina and Cameron.
Glenn attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas. He obtained his TDLR journeyman electrician license and worked many years in the petrochemical industry as an I&E Specialist, a multicraft Planner/Scheduler, Inspector and Supervisor. He fulfilled his lifelong dream to work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on some mammoth deep-water projects before being disabled in 2007.
Prior to disability, Glenn was happiest when swimming, boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle with the wind in his hair. He was a member of The Church Triumphant for many years and supported his pastors well. Glenn was an animal lover and was faithfully surrounded by his many comfort companions. He enjoyed classic rock and could often be heard singing along with his headphones on blast. He was an avid football fan of the Houston Texans. Glenn’s will to live was valiant, having never viewed himself as an end-of-life patient. His family lovingly called him their giant cockroach; he simply would not die!
Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Naomi Duval, daughter Christina Duval (James Hensley), son Cameron Duval, grandchildren James and Hakeem Patterson, brothers Steven Duval, Todd Duval, Robert Duval and sister Karen Hinsley, and many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
Celebration of life will be held at The Church Triumphant, 1030 Strawberry Road, Pasadena, Texas on Monday, February 21, 2022. Viewing is at 10:00am with homegoing service at 11:00am. Private burial will be at a later date in Grand View Cemetery. Family dinner provided in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Special thank you goes to his many home health skilled nurses and staff, Jordan, Emily, Amber, Melissa, John, Stacey, Erica, Isabel, Jennifer, phenomenal caregiver Courtney Koenig, medical staff, Joshina Doss, Dr. Tejinder Ahuja, Dr. Victor Ankoma-Sey, Dr. Scott Zela, Dr. Bo Kirkwood, Dr. Toby Kirkwood and so many others who served Glenn and provided quality of life in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation.
