Grace Ann Mensik, 90, of Pasadena, peacefully returned home to her Lord on Thursday May 15th. Grace and her beloved twin sister Elizabeth (Bessie) were born to the late August and Frances Kocian on Dec. 5, 1923 in Schulenburg, Texas. After struggling through the Depression years on the family farm, Grace and Bessie moved into town and worked at the Bus Station during World War II. Throughout the war years, the sisters loved dancing and writing letters to the soldiers overseas. Shortly after the war, Bessie married Donald Mensik and Grace married Donald’s brother, Allen Mensik. The four remained close throughout their lives. Grace and Allen were married for over 39 years before Allen’s passing in 1987. Bessie, Donald, and Grace’s brother, Daniel Kocian have also preceded her in death. Grace is survived by daughter, Karen Staha and her husband Kenneth; daughter, Jody Hoffman and her husband Larry; and son, Mike Mensik and his wife Nancy. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Carrie McMullen, Christy Guenther, Kevin Hoffman, Tommy Hoffman, Michael Mensik, and Justine Mensik; and six great grandchildren. Grace worked in the retail industry for over thirty years and was very active for most of her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, gardening, needlework, and crossword puzzles. She was a long time member of St. Pius V Church in Pasadena and the Catholic Daughters Society.
