Harold James Nassif, 76, of Friendswood, passed away May 20, 2019, in his home. Harold was born October 27, 1942 to and Harold and Audrey Wright in New Orleans, Louisiana; he was raised by his stepdad, George Michael Nassif, who adopted him. Harold was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville majoring in Criminal Justice and spent forty-six years of his life dedicated to protecting the people of Pasadena, Texas as a police officer for Pasadena Police Department (thirty years) and Pasadena Independent School District Police Department (sixteen years).
Harold is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Susan Payton, his second wife Katherine Sue (commonly known as “Sue Sue”), and his parents. He is survived by his first wife Paula Krueger, their son Michael Nassif and his wife Jenna; his third wife Robin Nassif and their son Ryan Nassif and his wife Robin; his daughter (also with Robin) Emily Nassif and her fiancé Sam Vargas; his granddaughters Jordan and Madeline Nassif; and several cousins.
Anyone who knew Harold knew that the only thing more important to him than his family were his brothers and sisters in blue. Nearly half a century on the “thin blue line” provided him a unique sense of duty, fairness, and justice that countless individuals who sought his counsel found invaluable. He was a de facto father figure to many during his career and even into retirement. Some might remember him for his famous Christmas Eve gumbo or as one of the elite and fearsome members of the Deer Park HS Drill Team Dad’s Security Team. Others might remember him for his (sometimes tall) tales – especially since those tended to be repeated, often. Most importantly, though, his children will remember him for being the man who taught them how to be the people they strive to be every day.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena at 10 o’clock a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Assist the Officer – Pasadena (http://assisttheofficerpasadena.org/) Fund.
