Harold Loyd Shaffer, 84 of Deer Park, Texas was born June 26, 1937 in Cooper, Texas to Carl and Willie Irene (Fletcher) Shaffer and passed away on October 27, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He was a fantastic, sweet and kind man who lived life to the fullest. Had a great sense of humor and a great storyteller. He did not criticize or judge and loved everyone he met and they loved him in return. He was a proud American and served in the United States Army.
Harold is survived by his brother, Billy Rogers, sons, Terry Lynn Shaffer and wife, Christina; and Harold Glen Shaffer; grandchildren, Terry Lynn Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Rachael, Rebecca Lynn Shaffer, Kimberly Kay Higley and husband, Bill, Daniel Carl Shaffer, and Justin Michael Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Christian Michael Shaffer, Ethan David Jordan, Alexandra Kay Jordan, Zachary Michael Shaffer, Xander William Shaffer, Zayden Shaffer and Jessica Shaffer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Irene White and Carl Shaffer; wife of 55 years, Thelma Shaffer; brother, George Shaffer and daughter-in-law, Sharon Shaffer.
Harold loved The Houston Astros and talking about politics; he was a member of the Longshoreman’s Association local 1273 for over 30 years and attending the retiree meetings. He also enjoyed meeting at the Waffle House in Pasadena every day and visiting with the ladies there.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Grand View Funeral Home with Pastor David Lee Tate officiating, and visitation will begin at 9:00am. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Shaffer, Justin Shaffer, George Perez, Rebecca Shaffer, Kimberly Higley and Terry Shaffer, Jr with Rene Flores, Mary Flores, Clyde Fitzgerald and the AM Crew at the Waffle House as honorary pallbearers.
