Harold Stephens, 87, of Pasadena, Texas, entered his heavenly home on January 30th, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 7, 1938, in Hempstead, Texas, he was the son of Harold C. and Sally Blalock Stephens.
Harold lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and service. A proud quarterback at Stephen F. Austin State University his love for athletics shaped a remarkable career in education. Harold started his coaching career at Jasper High School and finished his career as a High School coach and Assistant Athletic Director for Pasadena ISD. His leadership molded generations of students and athletes, leaving a legacy of integrity, discipline, and encouragement.
Harold was a devoted member of South Main Baptist Church of Pasadena, where he faithfully served and built lifelong friendships. He found joy in jogging, playing golf, volunteering at the Food Pantry, spending time with family, and especially watching his grandchildren compete in their many sporting endeavors. His presence—cheering from the sidelines—was a constant source of pride and comfort.
Harold shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Stephens, who remained his steadfast companion and closest friend.
He is lovingly remembered by his children Dawn Shaw and husband Shelby Shaw, Bryant Berry and wife Cristy Berry and Sam Berry and wife Jill Berry.
Harold cherished his seven grandchildren—Adam, Cade, Taylor, Blake, Cody, Jake, and Drew—each one holding a special place in his heart.
He is also survived by sisters in law Sharon Hardwick and Peggy Scribner, brother in law Padgett Bryant, brother Clayton Stephens and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
Harold’s life was one of purpose and love. His legacy will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched with his guidance, strength, and kindness.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home in the Yellow Rose Chapel, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505, on February 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for February 4, 2026, at 10:00 am at South Main Baptist Church, 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, Texas, 77505. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm at Cedar Creek Cemetery, 40687 FM 2979, Hempstead, Texas, 77445.
