Jack Edward Roden

Jack Edward Roden, a one-of-a-kind man who never needed an introduction, passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 82 in Houston, Texas, following a brief battle with cancer. Born on November 21, 1943, in Freeport, Texas, Jack was a man born to stand out, known as much for his bold personality as his impeccably color-coordinated outfits.

A legendary figure on the field, Jack’s greatest passion was softball. Whether he was playing, watching, or cheering from the sidelines, the game was a cornerstone of his life. He cherished the fierce competition and the lasting friendships forged through sport, culminating in his proudest achievement: his 2018 induction into the Texas Senior Softball Hall of Fame.

Beyond the diamond, Jack lived boldly. He loved the thrill of fast cars, the simple peace of a Sunday drive, and the adventure of cruising the open seas. For Jack, a cruise was never just a vacation; it was a chance to see the world, enjoy good food, and share a cold beer with his beloved wife, Mirabelle. He was a master storyteller who loved a spirited conversation and, true to form, always managed to get in the last word. His unmistakable laughter and larger-than-life presence left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Jack is reunited in death with his wife, Mirabelle Roden; his parents, Jack and Elsie Roden; his brother, Johnny Roden; and his daughter, GeNelle Roden Goode.

His legacy lives on through his daughter, Tammy Roden Harris and husband Joe; his grandchildren, Kristyn and Brian Bradshaw, Cheri Stokley and Kelli Zillox; his great-grandchildren, Kaden, Emersen, and Raegan Bradshaw, Mason Peres, Bella Stokley, Haley Stokley, Emily Chapa, and Parker Zilliox; and nephew, Johnny Conway.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a public visitation on September 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A celebration of Jack’s vibrant life will follow on September 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
