

James H. Franke passed away on October 8, 2010 in South Houston, TX. He was born on October 4, 1934 in Welcome, TX to the union of Henry and Elinor Howe. Mr. Franke grew up in La Marque, TX and graduated from La Marque High School in 1952. He attended college for one year prior to joining the U. S. Army. After serving in the Army, Jimmy went on to Texas A&M University and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor degree. He later earned a Master degree from the University of Houston. He moved to South Houston in 1963 and began his teaching career at South Houston Intermediate. Mr. Franke taught there for 31 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a devoted father, and family man. He served as a Cub Scout Den Father, Girl Scout Dad, and coached Little League. Jimmy was an Earth Science teacher and enjoyed taking his family on rock hunting excursions and working in his garden. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joel Franke. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Franke; 3 children, Timothy Franke, James Howe Franke, Rebecca Boone and husband Carl; 4 grand children, Mitchell Burt, Wade Burt, C.J. Boone, Justin Boone; sister-in-law Pam Franke, and numerous other family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home.
