Jeanette (Jan) Marie Davidson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 15, 2025, at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 10, 1954, to Richard Thomas Dickenson and Bettie Jane Dooley Dickenson. Jan married the love of her life Steven James Davidson in 1974, and celebrated 50 years of marriage together in Fall of 2024.
Jan was a one of a kind wife and mother. Her devotion to her husband and her children was apparent in everything she did, from the crafts she made for them on every occasion, to the morning prayers for them in her daily devotions.
Jan enjoyed spending time traveling with Steve and visiting friends across the country. She loved gardening and being outdoors brought her joy, especially when she could share it with her grandchildren.
Jan’s career evolved as it served her family and community. She fell in love with Mexico and the Spanish language as a teenager, and she expressed this as an ESL elementary teacher, librarian, and reading specialist. Her knowledge and skills were used to advocate for her grandchild and her students who became extensions of her family.
She loved the Lord and gave generously of her time and finances as a steward of God’s provision. Jan was so strong, determined, smart, capable, and willing, all wrapped in kindness. She loved God, first and foremost. Her love for God, family ,and others will be her lasting legacy. She asked us to share "That my only hope in life and death is in Jesus’ shed blood for my sins."
Jan is preceded in death by her father Richard (Rookie) Thomas Dickenson and her mother Bettie Jane Dooley Dickenson, called by her grandchildren Mimi. She is survived by her sister Virginia Dickenson, and by her loving husband Steven James Davidson, children Heather and Leah Burdeaux, Timothy and Jeanine Davidson, and Nathan and Lynsae Davidson. Her beloved grandchildren Arabella, Holden, and Darin Burdeaux, Cody Wise and Kayla Key, and Graham Davidson.
Jan has an amazing church family from Westminster Presbyterian, Presbyterian Church of the Covenant (now Faith Presbyterian Church), and Bay Area Presbyterian Church. Jan’s family will be forever grateful for the love and support given to them from this extended family.
A memorial gathering for Jan will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM preceding a Service with Eulogies at 1:00 PM at Bay Area Presbyterian Church, 670 E Medical Center Blvd, Webster, Texas.
Jan will be laid to rest in a private burial at The Blazing Star Sanctuary, which is located within the Katy Prairie Preserve.
