Jesse Martinez, Jr., 57, of La Porte, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born in Houston, Texas, on January 18, 1968, to the late Josefa Martinez and Jesus Martinez. Jesse graduated from Channelview High School class of 1987. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a doting grandfather, a brother, brother-in-law, uncle, business partner, and a boss to many.
Over the course of his business career Jesse touched hundreds upon hundreds of lives. With his leadership, work ethic, and steady hand he helped build Traffic Systems Construction, Inc., which just celebrated its 25th year in business. He garnered great respect in the industry to all those he had dealings with. Clients, vendors, sub-contractors, municipalities, engineers, all that dealt with him considered him to be fair, honest, and a reasonable man. He gave an opportunity to so many over the years to work hard, earn an honest paycheck, and provide a better life for their families. He will be remembered by his men, as a great boss, an even better role model, and someone to strive to be.
Jesse loved to live life to the fullest. He pursued many interests, some of which included singing karaoke (or in his view putting on a concert), playing poker, and his beloved corvette. He also had a passion for fishing, hunting, and four wheeling. Jesse loved to sit in his truck and listen to old music like George Jones, Elvis, Merle Haggard, George Strait, and Bob Seger to name a few, and he would play it as loud as possible for all to hear. He absolutely loved hanging outside while barbecuing. His motto was to sprinkle seasoning into the fire so the entire neighborhood could smell it and be jealous. Above all Jesse found that his greatest joy came from spending time with his precious family. He loved to tell stories about them to anyone who would listen. His face would come alive with the joy of a content man as he spoke of his newest granddaughter’s milestones. Jesse was so proud of all his children, he loved his wife with all his heart, and he leaves behind a loving family that will miss him deeply from this day forward.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Carmen Hope; his nephew Wesley Chapman; and his niece Kealeigh Boznango. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Christy Martinez of twenty-nine years to cherish his loving memory; his children Amber Jordan and husband Cory, Jesse Martinez and wife
