

Jimmie Irene Kimes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the age of 94. She was surrounded by her loving family and in the comfort of her home. Irene was a positive inspiration and a joyful expression of love in both word and deed.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena, TX, located at 8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, TX 77505. Visitation will be from 11 am – 12:30 pm; funeral service and interment immediately following. Service will be officiated by Pastor Richard Jennings.
Irene was born in Kerens, TX on May 11, 1921 to Buss and Lucy Crawford. On September 27, 1937, she married James Dixon Kimes and the two of them moved to Pasadena, TX in 1941. After raising her two daughters (Gale and Reba), she spent over twenty-years working for the Pasadena Independent School District where she retired as Assistant Cafeteria Manager at Jensen Elementary. After the death of her husband, she moved to Tomball, TX where she resided with her daughter, Gale, for the past eleven-years.
Irene had many attributes, including her strong Christian faith and love for family. She instilled these values into her family of 5-generations. She was a member of River of Praise Church of Tomball, TX for the past eleven-years. Prior to moving to Tomball, she attended First Assembly of God (Fairmont Christian Center) for over fifty-years.
She is survived by her daughters, Gale Kimes Bolton of Tomball, TX; Reba Kimes Johnson and husband Kenneth Johnson of Grand Junction, CO; Grandchildren – Gary Bolton and wife, Susan, of Marble Falls, TX; Jimmy Bolton, Sr. and wife, Karyn, of Marble Falls, TX; Tanya Cook and husband, Randy, of Tomball, TX; Kimberly Hall and husband, Larry, of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brother, Billy Crawford; sisters Ouida Mauzey and Delta English, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Buss and Lucy Crawford, husband, Dixon Kimes, brother, Lewis Crawford, and sisters, Florene Kimes and Bonnie Allen, son-in-law, Jim Bolton and grandson Kevin Johnson.
