James met the love of his wife, Patricia Quarles in high school and they married June 1, 1963. They were married for 59 beautiful years.
He had an extensive 35-year career as an experienced pipefitter and heavy equipment operator and was co-owner of Cook Construction Cleaning for 35 years. James was a member of PACE Local 4227.
James was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who relished at any chance to spend time with his family. He spent many years coaching his sons’ youth baseball teams. Both James and the kids benefitted from the wisdom and fun shared on the field. James had a knack for working with his hands, including woodworking and tinkering as a mechanic fixing up classic cars. His love of cars led him to dabble in motorsports. James enjoyed learning and reading about history, astronomy, and technology. At the end of a long day, you could always find James unwinding watching a show or movie on his treasured big screen TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Gordon and Betty Cook and son Steve Cook.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Pat Cook, son Lance (Julie) Cook of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren: Leticia Cook, Steven (Angela) Cook, Courtney (Trey) Dement, Ashley (Tyler) Moon, Lauren Arnold, and Jared Cook. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren Serena, Alex, Matteo, and Levi.
