Karen was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Victor Christenson and Billie Lang, who preceded her in death. As the daughter of an Air Force father, she spent part of her childhood living in England and Africa, gaining experiences that helped shape her strong and adaptable spirit.
She graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1970 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Steven DeVillier, on February 26, 1972. They shared 54 years of marriage and built a loving family together.
Karen worked for Pasadena ISD as a P.E. aide and later as an attendance clerk. She retired in 2007 to take the perfect job of full time Grandma. She also enjoyed teaching swim lessons to children in her home pool during the summers.
She dedicated much of her life to serving others. Karen volunteered as a class mom for her children’s school activities and for the past 16 years, served with AARP Tax-Aide at the Pasadena Library. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving Chapter 1095 three times as Worthy Matron. She was a Deputy Grand Matron and served two years for the Grand Chapter of Texas as Grand Adah. Her favorite project was overseeing the scholarship program.
Karen had a creative spirit and loved working with stained glass and various crafts, often sharing her talents with her children and their classmates. She especially loved Christmas and took great joy in decorating and creating special memories for her family.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother, and she treasured every moment spent with her family.
Karen courageously battled ovarian cancer for nearly 10 years, showing unwavering strength and resilience while continuing to care for and support those around her.
She will be remembered for her kindness, strength and deep love for her family.
