Kenneth Leslie Bowers Jr. (Ken) Procurement worker, Air Force Veteran, Coach, family man, best friend to many and stranger to none was taken on June 17,2021 due to underlying health problems. Ken was born in Fort Polk, Louisiana on June 11, 1947, to Julia Bell Bowers and Kenneth Leslie Bowers, Sr. Kenneth is survived by his wife Pamela Bowers. Pam and Kenny met when Kenny (a stranger to Pam at the time) knocked on her door asking for her to accompany him on his trip to the San Antonio Art Festival. After being turned down, Kenny would not take no for an answer, which led to their 47 yearlong marriage filled of laughs, cries, family, and of course plenty of Astro's games.
Kenneth is survived in death by his daughter and son-in-law Tiffanie Bowers-Saffold and Charlie Saffold and grandchildren Kaly Saffold, Madison Bowers, Brooklyn Saffold, and Tucker Saffold. Kenneth was a loving father and grandfather, and his happiest place was anywhere they were. Kenny was proceeded in death by his brother Gerald “Jerry” Bowers and is survived in death by sister Donna Mouton and husband Andrew, brothers Herbert Bowers and wife Sharon, John Bowers and wife Tomi-ko, and Mike Bowers and wife Tammy. Kenneth was enlisted into the military on October 19, 1965 and served in the Vietnam war before being honorably discharged 10 years later on October 10, 1975.
The visitation service is scheduled on Wednesday, June 23 from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, June 24 at 2pm. Following the service, we will have a brief military burial then food will be served afterwards at Grandview. The services will be held at Grandview off Spencer Highway, and we would love for everyone to come celebrate Kenny’s life with us. Also, we would like everyone to dress comfortably and wear Houston Astros gear in honor of him. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
