Kenneth Sampson entered Heaven on September 16, 2021 at the age of 50. Kenneth was born in Longview, Texas on July 3, 1971. He was the third child to Daniel and Carroll Sampson and was lovingly known as the “baby” of the family. Kenneth was raised in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Sam Rayburn High school in 1990.
Kenneth’s pride and joy was being the father of three beautiful girls, Camrhen, Caylie, and Allyson. He was very proud of his daughters and talked about them often. He surrounded himself and filled his home with pictures of them in all stages of their lives. Even though he lived several hours away, he tried to make holidays and their birthdays special.
He walked in his father’s footsteps beginning his career at Brown & Root as an electrical helper. His strong work ethic led him to earn his journeyman electrician license and he continued to advance in his career and ended up as a Senior Electrical Technologist at Dow Chemical Plaquemine in Louisiana where he was respected by all who knew and worked with him. He worked 14 years with Dow and was instrumental in taking care of daily issues and focal point for several yearly outages including major generator rewind and overhauls. In addition, he was part of a hurricane recovery team for the company.
Kenneth was an athlete in his youth playing football, and his dad coached him in baseball from Little League to Pony League. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing and he was usually wearing camouflage. He enjoyed deer hunting with his dad at the farm in northeast Texas and with his brother in south Texas. He would start the season with bow hunting and finish up with his rifle and muzzle loader. Any opportunity he had, he would get on a boat with his dad or brother in Aransas Pass, Texas or in Venice, Louisiana to fish for trout and red fish and have a fish fry afterwards.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Madylon “Carroll” Sampson, Grandparents Roy Ralph Sampson & Gladys Freeman Sampson and Willie Clyde Haywood Hooton & Leonard Dewey Hooton. Survived by his father, Daniel Emmitt Sampson, his daughters Camrhen Sampson, Caylie Sampson and Allyson Sampson, his sister Jeanette and brother-in-law Alan Leatherwood, his brother Anthony Sampson and sister-in-law Pam, his nephews and nieces Ryan & Hillarie Sampson, Meghan & Patrick Petty, Nolan & Chelsea Sampson, and Chad & Holly Leatherwood, and great nephews Milo, Maverick, Tate and Beau, along with several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
