

Larry was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, Texas and a graduate of Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. He began his career of education in 1978. He taught Texas and American history at Thompson Intermediate School in Pasadena, TX. His love for educating and his gift of speaking continued as he began working as the Curator of Education in 1989 for the San Jacinto Monument Museum. In 2006, Larry was appointed as President of the San Jacinto Museum of History where he enjoyed working with the public. He shared his love and knowledge of Texas history through his wit, humor and public speaking.
Important life events include: Texas History Teacher of the Year awarded by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas; awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the National Congress of Parents and Teachers through the Texas PTA; honored with a Lifetime Membership in the Sons of the Republic of Texas in 2010; in 2017 he was honored with a Hall of Fame Award from Sam Rayburn High School Alumni Association.
Larry was equally as generous of giving his time and love to his family and friends. He was indeed a loving husband and father, as well as a friend to many. He is, and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy and his step-father Dobri Spasic. His surviving relatives are his wife, Nancy Nye Spasic; His sons, Ryan and Robert Spasic; His siblings Zoran Spasic & wife Sue, Regina Cronin and husband Herschel, and Paul Spasic and his wife Sara; many Nieces and Nephews and loving In-laws.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11:00am at Parkgate Community Church, 3715 Preston Rd., Pasadena, TX 77505. A committal service will follow at Grand View Memorial Park at 12:30pm
